Gratitude

Gratitude is defined as “The expression of appreciation for what one has” and it’s often top of mind as we approach the holiday season.  Individuals, families and businesses start thinking about how to show appreciation for their sphere of influence.

Sport Clips is no different; as we wrap up the month of November, we are have been engaged in gratitude initiatives for veterans through the VFW’s “Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship” program. In addition to collecting funds from Clients in-store, many Team Members coordinate local fundraisers including bake sales, fundraising at local sporting events and even themed dress up days inside the store to collect additional funds for the program. It is up to each store/team organize their own events. It reflects that Team’s personality and it is FUN!

This year we had to get even more creative with our initiatives due to COVID-19.  The Virtual VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero Walk was added to the list of fundraising options as an alternative to in-person events.  Hundreds of stores took this idea and made it their own. Here are few examples of how the Sport Clips community came together virtually to show gratitude.

Thanksgiving is days away and our thoughts shift from work and our veteran community to family.  Many of us will spend the day with family and or friends, but there are some who will be alone or disconnected from their family due to COVID-19. This year our Support Team made cards with words of affirmation and gratitude for a local retirement community.  Residents there are not allowed to see family and we want them to know they are not forgotten. We even got our kids involved! The act of gratitude is evident throughout our system and it feels so good! #attitudeofgratitude
